Local Information
Symposium Location
The ISAAC'96 conference will be held
at Senri-chuo Life-Science Building ,
Senri-New-Town, Osaka.
Senri-New-Town is a sophisticated
and modern town in
the
Northern Area of
Osaka
--- the second largest
and most energetic city of Japan.
By taking monorail and train for one hour,
participants can visit
Kyoto,
the beautiful Japanese ancient capital.
Air Transport
The nearest airport is "Kansai International Airport" to which
a host of major airlines fly worldwide.
From other cities in Japan
From other cities in Japan, Shin-Osaka station
is the most common gate of Osaka.
JR Osaka station is another major station, but
Shinkansen (bullet train from Tokyo) arrives Shin-Osaka
station.
JR Osaka station is also called Umeda station, which is
slightly confusing.
From Kansai International Airport
From Kansai International Airport,
my favorite way is to take a train
of Nankai-dentetsu to Nanba-station (final destination).
Express shuttle (La-Pete) takes 30 minitues and 1370 yen,
departing every 30 minutes.
Regular train takes 70 minutes and 870 yen.
From Nanba station,
one should take Midosuji Line (subway) north
to Senri-Chuo station (final stop, 20 min).
It takes 3 minitues to the
Conference site from the Senri-Chuo
station.
Other possibilities:
there are JR train "Haruka" (destined to Kyoto) to
Sin-Osaka Station (45 min, 2930 yen), or
"Kankuu kaisoku" (70 min, 1140 yen) to JR Osaka station.
Airport limousine bus to the JR Osaka station is also cheap
(65 minutes, 1300 yen).
From Sin-Osaka Station or JR Osaka station,
take Midousuji Line north to
Senri-Chuo station.
Taxi costs 30,000 yen from the
airport to Osaka, so is not recommendable.
Accommodations
The nearest hotel is Senri-Hankyu Hotel, and a block of rooms
has been reserved for the conference.
Accomodation form is here .
There are cheaper hotels which are about 10 minitues far by
train or monorail. See brochure.
