----------------------------------------------------- Call for Participation IWSEPPA International Workshop on Software Engineering in Post-PC Age 24 August, 2000; Beijing, China This workshop is a co-located event of the International Federation for Information Processing, World Computer Congress of 2000 (IFIP WCC2000), under the sub-conference, International Conference on Software: Theory and Practice (ICS2000), 20-25 August, 2000, Beijing. Motivation: Since 1987, Software Engineers Association (SEA) of Japan has been conducting a series of international technical symposia in China in the Autumn every year: China-Japan Software Symposium (1987-90), International CASE Symposium (1991-95), and International Symposium on Future Software Technology ISFST since 1996. This Workshop (IWSEPPA) is a prelude for ISFST within ICS2000. The computing environment around us has been changed rapidly and will keep changing in future. The widening coverage of the Internet and also exploding application of micro-electronic technology will also bring heavy impact on the environment for software development and management in the coming century. Maybe it is necessary for us to reconstruct the framework of software engineering somehow. This workshop aims to provide an opportunity to discuss about possible changes in software engineering in the near future for researchers, engineers and managers who are interested in practical application of software engineering. Themes: The main discussion themes of the symposium is ; - impacts of the Internet on software development and management - possible shapes of future software development environment - ideas of new tools and/or methods for coming century - innovative concepts and/or technologies for new application domain Organizing Staff: IWSEPPA Workshop Co-Chairs: Prof. Yuqing Gu (ASTI Beijing, China) Mr. Akira Kumagai (PFU, Japan) ICS2000 PC Members in charge of IWSEPPA: Mr. Kouichi Kishida (SRA, Japan) Prof. Tetsuo Tamai (University of Tokyo, Japan) ISFST2000 Program Co-Chairs: Prof. Dookwon Baik (Korea University, Korea) Prof. Xiang Li (Guizhou University, China) Prof. Hideo Nakano (Osaka City University, Japan) IWSEPPA Program ---------------------- August 24 (Thursday) ---------------------- 9:10 Opening 9:10 - 9:30 Keynote 1: 'Cross-Polination:A Clue to Solve Problems in the Next Milennium Tomoo MATSUBARA(Matsubara Consulting, Japan) 9:30 - 9:50 'Simulation Platform on Visual Land' Tomhiro ODA(SRA,, Japan) 9:50 - 10:10 'A wide-band network based large-scale terrain visualization platform' Bin CHEN, etc., (Peking University, China) 10:10 - 10:30 'Jun Teddy' Kaoru HAYASHI(SRA, Japan) 10:30 - 10:50 'Understanding Large Object Oriented Systems/Class Libraries' Jauhar ALI(SRA, Japan) 10:50 - 11:10 'A Fair Non-repudiation Cryptographic Protocol and Its Formal Analysis' Xianxian LI and Jinpeng HUAI(Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China) 11:10 - 11:30 'An Process Engineering Environment for Supporting Activity-Based Management' Chaoying Wu and Bosheng Zhou(Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China) 11:30 - 11:50 Keynote 2 : 'Opaque symbols and symbol systems' Akira KUMAGAI(PFU, Japan) 12:00 - 13:30 Lunch Break 13:30 - 14:50 Discussion based on the presentations: 'What are possible changes in Software Engineering in Post-PC Age ?' 14:50 - 15:00 Closing Registration The ICS2000 PC provides us a conventional one-day registration.
